Superintendent’s Student Scholarship

Fort Worth Independent School District Superintendent Melody Johnson is dedicating a portion of her personal compensation to help deserving students realize their post-secondary educational goals. A firm believer in the idea that a good education is the key to future success and personal fulfillment, Dr. Johnson has made a tangible commitment to connecting dreams and opportunity for students who have demonstrated personal and academic achievement.

A committee of professionals in education and related fields who share Dr. Johnson’s vision for educational opportunity for young people will review the applications and select the award finalist(s). The finalist(s) will be invited for a personal interview with the review committee and recommendations will be made to Dr. Johnson. She will make the final determination of the award recipients.

Individual Scholarship Amounts:

  • $1,000 to $5,000

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Senior in a Fort Worth ISD high school
  • GPA – 3.0 minimum
  • Demonstrated commitment to personal growth and service to others
  • Financial need

Application must include:

  • Application form
  • High school transcript
  • SAT/ACT score(s)
  • Letters of recommendation (2)
  • Résumé of academic, extracurricular, service and other activities and accomplishments

Deadline:

  • April 15, 2010
