420 students attend Sunrise-McMillian on the East Side of Fort Worth. The school was built in 1958 and is considered architecturally significant.
The Pre K – 5th graders are the Jaguars. 420 of them enrolled for 2007-2008. Their colors are blue and gold.
Sunrise-McMillian teachers and other staff subscribe to their school’s motto, “Knowledge is Power.” They are daily empowering students in effective, creative ways. One popular tool is the school’s annual Career Day, when successful people in the workplace visit the classrooms to inspire the children to dream big.

Every student should be given every opportunity to develop intellectual curiosity, physical well-being, moral values, self-esteem, artistic appreciation and expression, and interpersonal skills.
What excites you about your new challenge as a PEAK principal?
The opportunity to create a dynamic team of teachers that will ensure an environment conducive to student learning and preparing students for success in future endeavors.
