Guidelines
Prepare an up-to-date resume
using the following guidelines. You are not limited to one
page.
DO NOT USE:
Dark paper, fancy print fonts, dot matrix printer, underlines,
lines or dark boxes, borders, graphics or drawings
USE:
White paper, standard
print fonts (Times or Helvetica)
Laser, ink-jet or letter quality printer
Required Data (Must appear on your resume)
PERSONAL DATA:
Name, address and telephone number.
Include both current and permanent addresses, if applicable.
OBJECTIVE:
Indicate the teaching
position you are seeking. Be specific about grade level(s) and
subject area(s). Indicate whether you would accept a full or
part time teaching position.
EDUCATION:
Include:
- Degree(s) earned (i.e. BA, BS,
MED)
- Area(s) of study (i.e. Science,
Math, etc.)
- Institutions from which degree
was granted
- Year(s) of graduation
CERTIFICATION/ENDORSEMENTS:
List all relevant certifications,
endorsements or licenses currently held.
Be specific about:
- subject area(s)
- grade level(s)
List all subject area(s) in which
you have 18 or more semester hours. List pending endorsements,
certificates, and EXCETs, if any. It is important that all
certification requirements be completed prior to hiring.
If you will not be fully certified prior to hiring, please specify
any requirements that need to be completed such as coursework,
student teaching, ExCET, etc.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE:
List all relevant teaching
experience with the most recent first. Include school district
and state, job title, grade level(s) or subject(s) taught and
the starting and ending dates of employment. Include methodologies
used and programs of instruction. If you are a beginning teacher,
list all student teaching assignments. Please indicate if you
are a former FWISD employee.
OTHER WORK EXPERIENCE:
List all other work experience,
with the most recent first. Include job title, responsibilities,
and the starting and ending dates of employment.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND/OR TRAINING:
List all relevant job
skills. Include significant professional development activities
or specialized training you have received. Include presentations
you have given and written material you have had published. List
activities you are qualified to coach or sponsor.
HONORS/MEMBERSHIPS/VOLUNTEER
EXPERIENCE:
List any professional
organizations to which you belong. Include offices held or responsibilities
assigned. List all relevant honors received. List only relevant
volunteer experience and/or training.
REFERENCES:
List three work/professional
references.
Include:
- Name
- Title
- Mailing Address
- Phone Numbers (phone and fax)
- E-mail Address (if applicable)
Reference information is required.
Your references will be contacted during the hiring process.
Use the following guidelines
when providing reference information:
- Experienced teachers MUST
include most recent principals or supervisors.
- Beginning teachers MUST
include student teaching supervisor and cooperating teachers.
- Applicants with work experience
other than teaching MUST include most recent supervisor.
- Applicants with no work experience
may include personal references. We may request additional
references.
