Programs and Services
The Intervention Service Division
of the Student and Social Service Department is mandated to enhance
student academic achievement by delivering programs and services
that address issues of student emotional, social, and behavioral
needs in the academic setting. The Intervention Service division
consists of 27 Intervention Specialists who are assigned in to
each of the secondary campuses in the District. There is one
Intervention Specialist assigned to each the high schools. At
the middle school campuses, Intervention Specialists have multiple
campus assignments. The Intervention Specialists works to improve
student emotional, social, and behavioral performances and participation
in the educational environment.
Programs and
Services Provision
The programs and services
provided by the Intervention Service Division include, but are
not limited to, the following non-prioritized listing:
- Establish campus-based short-term
individual and structured group counseling services for students
identified as being at-risk for academic failure, dropping out,
and or disciplinary action by the administrator.
- Provide services that are deemed
crisis or critical by campus administrators.
- Provide case management services
to students with severe and chronic problems that are leading
to disciplinary action by the administrator (including third-party
hearings, suspensions, or expulsions).
- Coordinates referrals for social
services that are beyond the purview of the campus.
- Provide leadership in the organization
and implementation of campus Student Service Teams.
- Collaborate with campus-based
and District support services professionals to identify needs,
provide services and coordinate referrals to district and community
providers.
- Provide home visits to students
and parent(s)/guardian(s) to assess and address their needs (daytime
and evening hours).
- Provide leadership in the organization,
development, and delivery of programs and services to student
and parent(s)/guardian(s).
- Actively seeks and provide services
to students who violate Board of Education policies outlined
in the Student Code of Conduct.
- Provide follow-up services to
students returning from treatment.
- Provide information, training,
education and consultation services to schools and communities
concerning intervention issues.
- Provide programs and services
to parents that include educational and referral services, and
facilitate parental involvement.
- Develop and implement peer helping
peer programs.
- Develop and implement conflict
resolution programs.
