RadioShack to honor top students, 10 teachers at April 27 dinner The gala RadioShack Scholars Dinner, a highlight of the school year, will bring together more than 3,000 guests to honor academic success Thursday, April 27, at the West Texas Room of the Amon G. Carter Exhibits Hall. The honored guests include the district's 22 National Merit Scholarship semifinalists, more than 1,500 students from eighth through 12th grade who maintained 4.0 grade point averages, or are in the top 2 percent of their class, and their parents. Honors will also go to 10 secondary math and science teachers for their exceptional success in the classroom. Each teacher will be awarded $2,000, and their schools will receive $500. Keynote speaker will be Leonard Roberts, RadioShack chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer. Also on the program are Board President Gary Manny, Superintendent Thomas Tocco and RadioShack Executive VP and Chief Operating Officer Dave Edmondson. The RadioShack Teacher Scholars for the year 2000 include three teachers who have three years or less experience in the classroom: Donielle J. Bracht, Wedgwood 6th Grade, science; Joseph P. Ferrara, Riverside Middle School, science; and George W. Griffith, Wedgwood Middle School, science. Veteran teachers to be honored

Graduation ceremonies begin in mid-MayApproximately 3,400 seniors will receive their diplomas during graduation exercises next month. Ceremonies are scheduled as follows:

Q&A - Will the FWISD offer PSAT/SAT preparation courses this summer?Academic coordinators at each high school have brochures with specifics on this year's courses. Ten high schools are serving as host sites; three are coordinating joint sessions with another high school. Times and dates vary by location. Any student in the area may choose to attend courses at any of the sites. Courses are open to any student who will be in high school in 2000-2001. Parents of younger children are asked to call the site of their choice to discuss possible enrollment. Contacts are:
