Purpose of the District Advisory Committee

The Superintendent and district staff regularly consult the committee in the planning, operation, supervision, and evaluation of the FWISD's educational programs.

The Committee consists of 12 elected school district representatives and 11 board-appointed parents, community and business representatives. Each member serves a two-year term. The term for Board appointed representatives expires in January; the term for school district employees expires in October.

Eligibility

FWISD employees are elected as follows: four elementary teachers, two middle school teachers, two high school teachers, and one representative elected at large. In addition there are three principals elected to serve: one each from elementary, middle and high school.

Parent Representatives - The individual appointed to serve in the position MUST be the parent of a FWISD student. (It is important to note that parents may only serve in the role of parent; parents may not be appointed as community or business representatives.)

Community Representatives - The individual in this position may not be the parent of a FWISD student and must live in the district.

Business Representatives - The individual in this position may not be the parent of a FWISD student and need not work or live in the district. The only criteria is that he or she is representative of business.
