A Few Slots Remain at Nash Elementary Pre-K
There are a few slots left open in the new Nash Elementary Pre-Kindergarten program.
Charles E. Nash Elementary, located near downtown Fort Worth at 401 Samuels Avenue, is open to the children of parents who work downtown but live outside the Nash Elementary attendance zone.
Parents may send their children to a new universal pre-K program at the school. Older siblings may also attend Nash and will receive a waiver of the usual five-day waiting period. The district will assess a minimal tuition fee.
Nash is open weekdays for parent visits during August. For directions, questions or to schedule a visit, please call the school at 817-871-3460.
Charles Nash Elementary is a historic and cultural landmark in the city of Fort Worth.
The 1927 Spanish Eclectic style building sits on a bluff overlooking the Trinity River, a picturesque and imposing presence on a verdant campus.Current enrollment is about 230 students with a student teacher ratio of 17:1. Fifteen of the teachers at Nash have more than ten years experience, five have more than twenty years experience and three have been teaching more than three decades.
In June, Superintendent Melody Johnson, board trustee Dr. Camille Rodriguez, and administrators of the Fort Worth ISD were joined by Bob Ray Sanders, developer Tom Struhs and his wife Elizabeth, representatives of Fort Worth Downtown, Inc. to walk the half-mile from downtown Fort Worth
to Nash Elementary. They illustrated the accessibility of the historic elementary school to the downtown central business district. They wore bright yellow t-shirts with the words MAKE THE D.A.S.H. TO NASH in royal blue. Royal blue and bright yellow are the school colors of Nash Elementary.
Parents interested in this program are invited to explore the advantages of making the “DASH to Nash” –in this instance, “Dash” stands for

· Parents will enjoy the comfort of knowing their children are nearby, increasing the possibility of lunchtime visits and convenient parent-teacher conferences.
· Parents and students will appreciate the high academic standards of thisTEA recognized school and the advantage of experienced teachers and a small student-teacher ratio.
