The Science Department hosted the Elementary Science Olympics at O.D. Wyatt High School in December. Twenty-two schools were represented at the event. Middle and high school teachers served as event sponsors.

The day began with the Parade of Teams marching into the auditorium, carrying banners designed by the students.

School teams were made up of 12 fifth grade and 4 fourth grade students. Each team of 12 students worked in groups of 4 to complete their task. Each group was assigned to three tasks.

Overall winners were
1st place -- Springdale Elementary
2nd place -- George Clark Elementary
3rd place -- North Hi Mount Elementary

The first place winners also received a large trophy to keep and care for
until next year's Elementary Science Olympics. This trophy will be used
for 12 years until it's retired.
