(Fort Worth ISD, Texas) – The Fort Worth Independent School District now ranks in the Top 5 in teacher salaries in the Western metroplex, according to the United Educators Association of Texas. The announcement was made Tuesday night in front of Fort Worth ISD school board trustees.
This year, teachers within the District received a pay raise ranging from 4.1% to 17%. The increase was driven by the desire for the District to remain competitive and also represents market adjustments.
“We committed early on to work toward equitably – and competitively—compensating all of our employees,” said Melody Johnson, FWISD Superintendent. “We said we’d do everything possible to meet this goal. This represents real progress toward making this a reality.”
During Tuesday’s school board meeting a UEA representative said the Fort Worth ISD gets an “A minus” for its teacher salary increase.
The United Educators Association of Texas works to improve salaries, benefits and work conditions for all public school employees.
