American Indian Education Program
Learning and Honoring Our Heritage

Goal: To ensure Native American students complete high school prepared for higher learning.


Program

The purpose of the American Indian Education Program in the Fort Worth ISD is to provide academic support through cultural education.  This program is awarded federal funding from the office of Indian Education to provide services to Native American students under the provisions of the Indian Education Formula Grant Program authorized in Part A, Subpart I of Title VII of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act.

Parent Advisory Committee

The Parent Advisory Committee is comprised of parents, teachers students and community members.  The responsibility of the committee is to quarterly review needs assessment, provide input, and serve as an advisory council to the program.

Eligibility

Children who are enrolled with the Fort Worth ISD and have an oral history of being a member, or whose parents or grandparents are members of an American Indian tribe or band, including those recognized by the State in which the tribe or band resides, are eligible for participation in the program.  Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB) verification is not required for this program.
