Substance Abuse Services

Individual substance abuse assessments and drug testing available as well as a weekly substance abuse support group for teens attending FWISD. Group meets every Tuesday from 4:30-6:30 pm at Family Resource Center-Northside For more information call 817-740-4511.

Becoming A Loving and Logic Parent

A six-week series of classes designed to help you help your child become more responsive and responsible. Series will be offered in both English and Spanish at a variety of FWISD and community locations throughout 2007-2008. For more information or call (817) 871-2833.

Family Adventures

Family Adventures offers FWISD children and their families a chance to spend an entire Saturday together taking on a variety of mentally and physically challenging games and activities in a fun, outdoor setting. Transportation is provided free of charge and day camps are offered monthly throughout the school year.

Summer Challenge

FWISD Summer Challenge is a week-long experiential adventure camp offered to 5th grade students preparing to transition to 6th grade. Participants enjoy 5 action-packed days and the opportunity to make new friends, challenge themselves, take safe risks, make decisions, work as a team, and be a leader. Family Advocacy Support Group

A group for families or caregivers whose children or adolescents have a behavior disturbance such as Bipolar (Manic Depression), Depression, Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder (with or without hyperactivity), Schizophrenia, or Autism Spectrum Disorders (PDD, Autism, or Asperger’s Disorder) or other emotional/behavior disturbances.

Referral Process

Families interested in any Family Resource Center service or program may complete the Web referral form and click ”SUBMIT” at the end of the form. Upon receipt of referral, the FRC staff will attempt to make contact with the family within 48 hours.
