Fort Worth After School has made a goal of being an exemplary after school program. The program has been recognized locally and nationally as a rising star of after school programs.

Recipient of Tarrant County Youth Collaboration 2001 "Voice of Collaboration"
– An award highlighting outstanding partnerships in developing and delivering programs that benefit children.

Municipal Leadership for Expanded Learning Opportunities – National League of Cities. One of eight after school programs selected in the United States to participate in project to provide technical assistance to develop and implement strategies for expanding learning opportunities during the non-school hours within the community.

National Institute of Out of School Time –Identified as a promising practice for planning and collaborative strategies.

National Lights On Afterschool! – Tarrant County and the City of Fort Worth proclaim the 12th of October, 2006 as  “Lights On After School! Day.”  FWAS  celebration was highlighted in the National listing of  programs participating in Lights On Afterschool! to bring awareness to the critical need of after school programs.

Selected as one of ‘six teams nationally to participate in Working Conference for Local Intermediaries by the After School Corporation in New York City
