Welcome to the FWISD Foreign Language Department

Mission Statement

Communication is at the heart of all human relationships. Given the interdependence of today's global community, it is imperative that the students of Fort Worth ISD be equipped both linguistically and culturally to communicate successfully. It is vital that all students become proficient in at least one language other than English. Students who come from non-English-speaking backgrounds should also have opportunities to develop further in their first language. The Foreign Language Department is committed to these beliefs and supports the assumptions that proficiency in more than one language and culture benefits both the individual and society, that all students can be successful language and culture learners, and that language and culture education is an important part of the core curriculum.
