Fort Worth, Texas – When 5th graders from Fort Worth ISD’s De Zavala Elementary School visit the University of Texas at Arlington the emphasis will all about “College & Me”. College & Me is a FWISD initiative to decrease the number of high school dropouts and increase the number of students who continue their education through college.
“If these issues are not addressed before students enters middle school and high school, it may be too late,” said Dr. Danna Joseph, Director of Student Engagement and School Completion.
On May 16th, 2008 the De Zavala students will attend a Planetarium show, a science lecture and a chemistry “magic” show at UTA. They will also be escorted on a campus tour and meet with admissions office staff and undergraduate students.
College & Me is a part of Project Prevail – a comprehensive effort to increase the number of graduates fully prepared for post-secondary education or gainful employment. Working with parents, businesses and students Project Prevail can reduce the costly and tragic consequences of an interrupted education.
Additional information about College & Me as well as Project Prevail is available through the Office of Student Engagement and School Completion – 817-871-2510.
