Christene Chadwick Moss, Trustee of Fort Worth ISD Board of Education, is a product of the Fort Worth ISD and attended Como Elementary through Como High School.  She is a trustee who has demonstrated leadership through service to the community.  She was elected to represent District 3 of FWISD in 1990.

Mrs. Moss is registered nurse by training and vocation and currently works with the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services. She holds an ADA degree from Tarrant County College, a B.S. degree from Texas Wesleyan University and a Master’s degree from Texas Woman’s University. Her minor was in financial management and, at one time, taught that subject at Tarrant County College, where she served as an adjunct professor.

Christene Moss Elementary was named in her honor. The Salvation Army also named its Children’s Library in her honor for her assistance in establishing a facility for homeless students.

Mrs. Moss is a member of the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church. She serves on the Executive Manager’s Board, Usher Board, the Nurses’ Guild and is president of the Vision of Women Ministry. Mrs. Moss also sings in the church choir and participates in the health ministry.

She is married to Franklin D. Moss, Sr., They have three children:  Edmond L. Moss, Kimberlin Moss Simpson and Franklin D. Moss, Jr., as well as three granddaughters.

Accomplishments of the Board of Education

• Conducted a nationwide search for a new superintendent of schools resulting in the hiring of Melody A. Johnson
• Balanced District budget through reductions of $50 million over the last four years with $3 million cut from the central office alone
• Charged the District’s administrators with improving student achievement
• Developed and adopted Procedures and Standards of Practice for the Board resulting in a cohesive and committed team
• Established and utilized community advisory committees in the areas of technology, facilities, budget and audit functions
• Adopted policies that ensure transparency of operations
• Reinstated music and art into the curriculum for primary grades
• Developed the first strategic performance plan with high standards and accountability measures
• Defined staff responsibilities and accountability more clearly and implemented efficient and ethical business practices

• District 3 had 6 TEA high-performing schools in 2008-2009
• District 3 had 46 Academic Sweatshirt Scholars in 2009
• 16 high school seniors in District 3 named 2007 Superintendent’s Scholars
• S.S. Dillow ES received a $175,000 21st Century After School Program Grant
• D. McRae ES received a $25,000 Lowe’s Foundation Award for an Outdoor Learning Environment
• Maude I. Logan ES and Christene Moss ES are initial sites for the District’s official parent involvement program
• Dunbar MS’s 21st Century Program which serves over 100 students daily
• Polytechnic HS earned a $10,000 grant from Countrywide Financial to educate students about money matters
• William James MS wins 2008-2009 FWISD Whiz Quiz
• A.M. Pate ES received TEA Gold Performance Award for attendance rate
• A.M. Pate ES received $5,000 from Lowes Toolbox for Education for playground
