Norman Robbins is a Fort Worth native. He holds a bachelor’s degree and Master of Science degree in business administration from Trinity University in San Antonio.

Mr. Robbins joined Lockheed Martin in 1986 and is currently senior manager of community relations. He oversees and administers the company’s community involvement program.  Prior to joining Lockheed Martin, Mr. Robbins was employed by the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce in a variety of capacities which included economic development and governmental/urban affairs activities.

Mr. Robbins’ goals include eliminating the achievement gap among students.  

Mr. Robbins has worked with TCU’s School of Education Board of Visitors, the FWISD’s School and Community Partnerships Advisory Committee, Tarrant County Workforce Development Board, Big Brothers and Sisters and Communities in Schools.

Mr. Robbins is married with three grown children.

Accomplishments of the Board of Education

  • Conducted a nationwide search for a new superintendent of schools resulting in the hiring of Melody A. Johnson
  • Charged the District’s administrators with improving student achievement
  • Developed and adopted Procedures and Standards of Practice for the Board resulting in a cohesive and committed team
  • Established and utilized community advisory committees in the areas of technology, facilities, budget and audit functions
  • Adopted policies that ensure transparency of operations
  • Reinstated music and art into the curriculum for primary grades
  • Developed the first strategic performance plan with high standards and accountability measures
  • Defined staff responsibilities and accountability more clearly and implemented efficient and ethical business practices

Student and School Achievements

  • District 7 had 6 TEA high-performing schools in 2009  
  • District 7 had 143 Academic Sweatshirt Scholars in 2009
  • 6 high school seniors in District 7 named 2009-2010 Superintendent’s Scholars
  • Western Hills Primary is an initial site for the District’s official parent involvement program
  • Western Hills Primary highlighted campus for the National SRA Academic Recognition Award
  • Luella Merrett ES is home of the original All-STARS Preventative Program in FWISD
  • 5th graders at Luella Merrett ES among four schools competing in 2009 dancing classrooms
  • International Newcomer Academy received the 21st Century After School grant and the $50,000 Investment Capital Fund grant
  • Applied Learning Academy’s Coach David Alverson, 2005-2006 Who’s Who of America’s teachers
  • Western Hills HS’s Veronica Meeks, Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching Mathematics
  • Western Hill ES’s Teacher of the Year is 5th grade science teacher, Heater Tinker
  • Over 300 students and family members participated in Western Hills ES Math & Science Night
  • Leonard 6th had dozens of students and adults participate in Cowtown Marathon
  • Leonard MS parent and community member volunteer over 15, 000 hours
  • Western Hills Primary has two dogs on campus, “Max” and “Bob Dog”, which assist the campus through Animal Assisted Therapy
  • 2009 Lockheed Martin Chair for Teaching Excellence in Elementary Mathematics-Elizabeth Myers, Waverly Park ES
  • Southwest HS Media Technology Program marks 20th anniversary
  • 12th grader Matthew Smith of Southwest HS selected as 1st Chair Trumpet for 2009-2010 All-State Jazz ensemble
  • Southwest HS band is first ever in FWISD to advance to State Level UIL competition
  • Western Hills HS Winter Guard earns gold medal in 2009 Grand Championships.
