Fort Worth, Texas – The best academic teams in the Fort Worth ISD will match wits beginning on Monday, January 30, 2012 to find out which will be the 2012 Whiz Quiz champions. And you can watch and play along from anywhere in the world!
Whiz Quiz is the “GE College Bowl” styled academic competition that has been a tradition in the FWISD since the 1977-78 school year. This “sport of knowledge” requires 6th grade, 7th & 8th grade and high school academic teams to accurately answer brain stretching questions faster than their opponents.
“We are as proud of the event itself as we are of the students who compete,” said Dr. Sharon Meng, FWISD Assistant Superintendent of Advanced, Accelerated and Innovative Learning, the department that oversees the competition. “In the Fort Worth ISD, competition is not limited to the athletic arenas. Our students learn they can compete and succeed in the academic arenas as well.”
The Whiz Quiz competition takes place over three separate evenings. The 6th Grade competition will take place at 5 p.m. on Monday, January 30. On Thursday, February 2, the 7th & 8th Grade teams will also compete at 5 p.m. The High School teams will meet on Monday, February 6 starting at 4:30 p.m.
